Nikki has a love of life. She is always up for having fun, whether it's playing disc golf, catching a local band, or just relaxing on any body of water with her husband and three children, Cooper, Lola, and Beck. Originally from Illinois, Nikki's adventurous spirit has led her to live all over the United States- she even briefly worked at Yellowstone! When she finally came to settle in the south, she was working at an outdoors store when she learned of an apprenticeship at Salon Raymond Barry. It was there that she truly developed a love for the craft, and though she adores all styles of cuts and color, she has come to excel in bobs and blondes. She loves making people feel beautiful, and values all of the friendships that she has built with her amazing guests. One visit to her chair, and she will quickly become one of your favorite people!

Benji is low-key and drama-free! This Alabama native, comic book lover and self-professed nerd, also happens to be a killer stylist. Having curly hair, he was initially drawn to hair products. That curiosity eventually led him to become more interested in the styling aspect. As an apprentice, coloring came easy to Benji, and to this day his passion is coloring and redheads (natural and unnatural!). He has also developed a new found passion for stylized men's cuts, and has developed quite the loyal following. His goal is to give each and every guest the cut or color that they want, but also what works for their specific hair type and texture. Outside of the Salon U, Benji loves singing and playing guitar. He has been blessed with an incredible group of supportive friends and his perfect day would include a day at the lake with his nephew, having a picnic and playing guitar.

I have been in the beauty industry for 14 years. It started with my passion for art. That passion transferred to the makeup industry where I worked as an artist and trainer. After a stint in graphic design, I picked up my makeup brushes and added some hairstyling brushes. I have been doing hair ever since. I enjoy the finished product of any service, whether it is cuts or color, I take pride in making people feel good through their appearance. Because if my clients feel good, I feel good.

Hailing from our Nation's capital, Misha is an eclectic and versatile stylist. As DC is the melting pot of the United States, she has encountered people from many different cultures and backgrounds.
In 2014, Misha decided that she wanted to know more about hair and cosmetology and enrolled at Aveda Institute. While at Aveda, she worked with the Washington Wizards "Wiz Girls" for games at the Verizon Center. She was also a hair stylist during New York Fashion Week. At graduation, she received many awards including the Salutatorian and Next Leader in the Industry awards. As she is Aveda-trained, she is well-versed on Aveda product education and working with fine to course hair. She specializes in coloring, cutting, and all natural hair styles.
In her free time, Misha enjoys cooking, traveling, and increasing her music collection. She loves watching cooking videos on Facebook and recreating them in her own kitchen for family and friends. One of her missions is to travel out of the country at least once a year. Music is one of her escapes and is thrilled by finding and sharing all types of new music.
If you're looking for someone to make your hair dreams a reality, Misha is the perfect choice.

Born in England, Gwyn spent the first 15 years of her life traveling and living all over Europe with her family. At 15 she moved to Hawaii, and then after college moved to the mainland for the real US experience. Gwyn has been in Birmingham since 2009 when she fell in love with the city, considering herself a Magic City transplant for life. After working as a bartender for a while, she decided to go to cosmetology school to break the monotony, and ended up falling in love with the industry. Gwyn graduated top of her class with double honors from the Regency Beauty Institute, entering and winning every hair related competition she could find. She discovered early on that she has a natural eye for color, with a special fondness for fashion colors. Gwyn also enjoys styling hair, from beautiful blowouts to whimsical braids and updos. In her free time, Gwyn can be found enjoying live music, playing at the skate park with her son, trekking around Birmingham trails, or posted up at the pub watching Alabama football. She stays away from mean people, cold weather and warm beer. It is also important to note that Gwyn gets distracted by all things glittery.

Rachel feels very lucky that she chose hair as her first career, and can’t imagine herself doing anything else. Shortly after graduating from Thompson High School, she attended the Xcell Academy, a Paul Mitchell School in Hoover AL, and in 2007 she graduated from the Phase 2 Honors Program. Before finding her forever salon home here at Salon U Midtown, she worked mostly in the Hoover and Helena area. She’s thankful to have had some awesome mentors along the way. Rachel values continued education and keeping up with trending looks and techniques. She really loves working with AVEDA Color and Bumble&bumble styling products. As a color specialist, she enjoys performing all color services but has a passion for creating custom blondes and vibrant reds. Rachel also really enjoys the balayage coloring technique and Razor cutting. In addition to working behind the chair, Rachel is a Bumble&bumble Network Educator, teaching classes and continuing her own education at the House of Bumble in NYC. Rachel has a fun, goofy, go with the flow personality with a mild obsession with sharks and mermaids. When she’s not at work, she can be found spending time with her friends, probably on a patio, with her adorable fur babies and beverage in hand. She will jump at any opportunity to sneak out of town for a weekend, but also loves a lazy weekend with Netflix and pjs.

Paul grew up in Moody, AL. After graduating high school he spent the next 6 years working as a full time musician while attending classes at Southeastern Bible College, and Jefferson State Community College. Feeling fulfilled by his music, but not by his classes, Paul made the jump across the ocean to attend the London School of Barbering, graduating in 2015. Away from the barber's chair, Paul maintains his career as musician, playing acoustic shows at venues all across Birmingham. Paul's other interests include sports, painting, gaming and traveling.
